Are you ready to launch your own business? Got the finances in order? The business plan? The know-how? New online assessment tools by the Small Business Administration can help answer those questions.

The Small Business Readiness and the 8(a) Business Development tools have already attracted more than 125,000 budding entrepreneurs, the agency reported this week. The readiness tool gauges whether you're prepared to launch a new venture via a series of automated questions, while the 8(a) application determines your eligibilty for federal assistance.

The services are free and available at www.sba.com.

No Reservations

With company reps traveling across the country or around the world, it's not easy to know when you'll need video conferencing services. Chicago-based InterCall is now offering PIN and Conference Code video conferencing services similar to video-on-demand that don't require advanced scheduling.

"We saw a need for a boardroom offering that truly gives executives the ability to instantly start a video conference," said Bob Wise, vice president of InterCall's marketing and strategic development.

The service starts at $500, excluding a one-time start-up charge, and calculated per port per month. For more information, go to www.intercall.com.

Data at a Glance

Integral Systems, a Lanham, Md.- based satellite grounds provider, is offering a new dashboard that provides an online at-a-glance display of important business data.

The Enterprise Executive Dashboard allows users to quickly see and analyze data across their entire ground system, apply strategic "business logic" to raw data, and generate key performance indicators over the Web.

SCORE for Seniors

SCORE, a Washington-based small-business counseling group, has created a new section on its Web site devoted to retirement-age entrepreneurs.

The section offers information, statistics and advice for older small-business owners, including articles on evaluating your post-retirement financial situation and how to transition into a business owner. The site also offers features on some of the most successful business owners over 50, along with a list of useful groups and organizations.
