With all of the various travel regulations in place and the research involved, business travel can be cumbersome.

Silicon.com, a business technology website, offered a few suggestions for ensuring a safe and even fun business trip -- like purchasing a large wallet, which can hold both money, a passport, tickets and receipts. Other tips include taking your own Ethernet cable and keeping your laptop separate from your checked luggage.

B2B Social Networking

SkyLounge is helping business travelers to stay connected with their friends and expand their social networks en route. Members of this social networking firm can now see where their contacts are at all times, enabling them to network on their business trips even before they arrive at the destination.

The average age of the sites members is 35 and many are business executives, allowing a greater opportunity for business-to-business networking than more teenage-oriented social networking sites.

Registration is free. More information can be found at www.skylounge.com.

Smarter Trucks
Ford's recent expansion of smart onboard truck features can help boost productivity for small-business owners.
The upgrades include an in-dash computer with full high-speed Internet access via the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network, allowing drivers to print invoices, check inventories and access documents on the road.
The new trucks are also outfitted with Crew Chief, a diagnostic system allowing small-fleet owners to manage their vehicles and dispatch workers to job sites.

The website is written by journalists who review restaurants, critique hotels and provide information about vacation packages and deals in the tropics.
