Linksys, a division of Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO), and Trend Micro (NASDAQ:TMIC) have teamed up to launch Trend Micro ProtectLink Gateway for select Linksys by Cisco Small Business routers.

The new solution is a subscription-based service that can reduce spam, block unwanted e-mail, and help prevent employee access to Web sites that may contain malware or spyware. It is available as an add-on option for the 10/100 4-Port VPN Router and will soon be available for the 4-Port Gigabit Security Router with VPN Secure and Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router with VPN.

"Trend Micro ProtectLink Gateway will help companies save time and money through better enforcement of their Internet usage policies, increase worker productivity and protection of their digital information," Steve Quane, Trend Micro's general manager of SMB customer business unit, said in a statement.
