The partnership will provide point-to-multipoint wireless technology at up to 20 megabytes per second.
Covad Communications Group (AMEX:DVW) (AMEX:DVW) and IDT Spectrum, a division of IDT (NYSE:IDT), have joined forces to deploy Covad Wireless Ethernet services in the San Francisco Bay Area over IDT's licensed 28-31 GHz Local Multipoint Distribution System (LMDS) spectrum.
LMDS is a point-to-multipoint wireless technology that provides access speeds of up to 20 megabytes per second with high reliability and low latency. Covad Wireless' scalable enterprise-class service is designed and priced for small and midsize businesses.
"The partnership with IDT Spectrum will allow us to improve operational efficiency by offering a more scalable broadband alternative that is highly reliable and priced competitively," David McMorrow, general manager of Covad Wireless, said in a statement. "It will also lead to accelerated installation times, improving the overall experience for our customers."
