Linksys Introduces Wireless IP Phone
Linksys, a division of Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO), has unveiled the latest in its family of VoIP products that offer connectivity via Wi-Fi Internet access. The new Wireless-G IP iPhone (WIP310) is designed and priced for consumers or small businesses and will be sold through voice service providers and IP telephony value-added resellers.
The new device provides access to dynamic multimedia content like live weather updates and local Internet searches. It features wireless data rates of up 54 megabytes per second, a 1.8-inch backlit LCD screen, approximately three hours of talk time and 50 hours of standby, polyphonic ring tone, and speaker capability.
"Our existing Linksys VoIP phone and ATA product family has been well received by the service provider community, but we felt there was room for a product that could provide the benefits of WiFi connectivity with the robust feature-set our customers expect," Sherman Scholten, director of voice product management at Linksys, said in a statement.
