Verizon, Cisco Offer Collaboration Solutions
The company's broadband users can access Cisco WebEx services.
Verizon (NYSE:VZ) has announced that its broadband customers can now access two Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) WebEx services that allow users to, respectively, start an online meeting and retrieve computer files from any Internet browser.
WebEx MeetMeNow allows subscribers to share desktop files and tools with others for an online meeting, such as a webcam for instant video conferencing or PowerPoint slides. The service can be launched from a system tray icon, Microsoft Outlook application, or from AOL, Yahoo!, MSN or Skype instant messengers. WebEx PCNow allows customers to retrieve personal files, programs, e-mail, calendar and contacts using any Internet browser or mobile device.
"These new services provided by Cisco WebEx will allow our individual and small-business broadband customers to interact with friends, clients and prospects online while maximizing their time, minimizing expenses and doing their part to reduce carbon emissions," Alan Lough, director of corporate marketing for Verizon, said in a statement.
