Avistar Enhances Unified Communications Platform

New features include an all-software multi-point control unit and firewall traversal capabilities.

Avistar Communications (NASDAQ:AVSR) has introduced two new features to its C3 platform for unified communications. An all-software multi-point control (MCU) unit provides multi-party videoconferencing capabilities to small and midsize businesses, and new firewall traversal capabilities facilitate connections to Avistar and third-party videoconferencing endpoints.

The new all-software MCU leverages existing videoconferencing investments by providing interoperability with external third-party installations. It is integrated within Avistar's C3 desktop and Teamroom MP solutions for the small and midsize business market.

"We believe these latest additions to our C3 platform make Avistar's market-leading solutions for unified communications even more affordable, easier to deploy and more widely available," Stephen Epstein, Avistar's chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
