March Madness is expected to take its seasonal hit on workplace productivity, according to Careerbuilder.com.

About a quarter of 6,700 workers surveyed said they planned to follow the games, many of which are broadcast live on weekdays during office hours, the Chicago-based online job board reported.

Many respondents said they have already entered March Madness office pools, including 30 percent of workers employed in financial services, 29 percent in sales and IT, and 21 percent in transportation, the survey found.

By region, workers in the Midwest are most likely to be caught up in the games, followed by the Northeast. Eight percent of men are expected to watch the games at work, twice as many as their female co-workers.
