Run out of people to friend on Facebook? This week the social networking site announced a move to post company profiles along with individual users.

In partnership with CareerBuilder.com, an online job board, Facebook will allow employers to connect directly with its users to boost recruiting efforts. In exchange, users can become fans of these companies and share employer information with their Facebook friends.

As part of the deal, CareerBuilder.com will also have its own career channel on the site with job and internship-matching tools. It will also highlight featured employers from its growing list of clients.

Check it out at www.facebook.com/careerbuilder.

Freight & Shipping, Inc., a Clearwater, Fla.- based shipping firm, has launched a Web-based freight matching tool that it says can reduce shipping costs by as much as 70 percent.

By logging onto the company’s site and entering a package's destination, origin and weight, users instantly receive as many as 60 quotes from national and international carriers.

Going Postal

Next month, the post office will be resetting its rates with an eye to helping out small businesses. For the first time, postal rates will include commercial volume and contract prices, rebates, and online discounts. Deals for small businesses include a three-percent discount on Priority Mail and Express Mail purchased online or through corporate accounts.

"These innovative pricing incentives will make our products more attractive to all shippers, especially small businesses," Postmaster General John Potter said in a statement. "We're pricing our products to sell in today's competitive shipping market."

The rate changes take place in May. For more information go to www.usps.com/prices.
