RCN Offers InGrid Security Services

The self-installable system provides two-way broadband communications.

 

RCN (NASDAQ:RCNI) has plans to offer a six-month trial of InGrid Home Security services to home and small business customers in the Chicago and Philadelphia areas. InGrid develops digital wireless home security solutions.

The self-installable system maintains constant communication through a two-way broadband connection with InGrid's servers and professional monitoring center for emergency dispatch. It also provides customers with the ability to control their system remotely and receive notifications on any Internet-connected device.

"We think customers will find that because InGrid is all-digital and with so many redundancies built in, it is far harder to defeat and more reliable than most professionally installed systems -- at a far less expensive price," Lou Stilp, InGrid CEO, said in a statement. "InGrid also gives consumers many ways to control their system outside the home -- anywhere in the world in fact -- through any Internet connected device, from desktop computers to digital phones."
