CIGNA (NYSE:CI) has added three new Health Savings Plans and eight new Open Access Plans to its suite of products designed for employers with 50 or fewer employees in Arizona.
The new Open Access Plans offer a national network of physicians, healthcare professionals and hospitals with no referrals required. The new Health Savings Plans provide a low cost, high-deductible option to be used in combination with a tax-free Health Savings Account (HAS), enabling employers to reduce the cost of healthcare benefits, while allowing employees to make pre-tax contributions to an HSA, where the funds accumulate tax-free to pay for certain medical expenses not covered by the plan.
"Small employers have to compete for the same talent as larger companies, which are more likely to offer more comprehensive health care benefits for their employees," Andrew Sullivan, senior vice president of the Individual and Small Group Segment for CIGNA HealthCare, said in a statement. "CIGNA has been able to take the industry-leading cost and quality programs it has developed for larger employers and focus them on the needs of small employers."
