IBM Launches Foundations
The turnkey software for small businesses can be deployed in 30 minutes.
IBM (NYSE:IBM) has introduced Lotus Foundations Start, a turnkey software solution for small and midsize business that can be deployed in 30 minutes. The new solution is a software appliance containing the essentials for companies with little or no in-house technical resources.
The Linux-based solution provides collaboration tools such as e-mail, file sharing, and remote access, as well as automated network security features, data protection, backup and recovery. It manages and heals itself, automatically detects the network, secures data and configures applications. As the first product on IBM's Blue Business Platform, Foundations will lead the company's initiative to radically simplify IT for small and midsize businesses, while reducing costs.
"Small businesses need to get up and running fast. If they're not nimble in how they serve their customers, they don't stay in business very long," Kevin Cavanaugh, vice president of IBM Lotus Software, said in a statement.
