Verizon to Expand FiOS Customer Base
The expanded services extend to strip malls, street-level shops and small offices.
Verizon (NYSE:VZ) is in the process of extending the reach of its FiOS service to small and midsize commercial properties, such as strip malls, street-level shops and offices. The expanded service and accompanying marketing campaign are part of the company's plan to link multi-dwelling units to offer FiOS services to tenants.
"Verizon is excited to bring FiOS service to small and medium-sized businesses in commercial properties," Monte Beck, vice president of business marketing for Verizon, said in a statement. "Now as our teams of engineers are expanding the reach of our FiOS services, we'll sell the services to commercial properties, just as we've done successfully in apartment buildings," he said.
Verizon FiOS Internet for Business service can deliver Internet access with maximum downstream connection speed of up to 50 megabits per second (Mbps) on the company's digital, all-fiber-optic network. Upload speeds are up to 20 Mbps, meaning that a 3,500 page document can upload in 90 seconds.
