RAID-based system automatically stores content to maximize data safety.
WD (NYSE:WDC) has released its new My Book Mirror Edition dual-drive storage systems, which automatically stores valuable content twice to maximize data safety. This RAID-based continuous data protection feature, called mirroring, makes the solution ideal for home and small office use.
Formatted for Windows computers, the new solution features a USB 2.0 interface, configured out-of-the box and configurable modes, and 1- and 2-terabyte models. Its GreenPower drives consume about one-third less power than standard dual-drive external storage systems, and the systems are designed without a fan for quiet operation in the home or office. Automatic and continuous backup software allows users to simultaneously save a change and have it backed up on the second drive.
"Personal and business content are extremely valuable — both emotionally and financially," Jim Welsh, vice president and general manager of branded products and consumer electronics groups for WD, said in a statement. "Our new My Book Mirror system helps users sleep easy, knowing that their data is safe."
