Calling the HR Hotline
Ernst Enterprises, a Chicago-based small-business consulting firm, recently launched a personalized e-mail and phone service to help employers deal with recruiting, staff rewards programs, layoffs and other issues related to human resources.
getHRanswers is designed to be a one-stop helpdesk for small to midsize businesses that don't employ a full-time HR manager. Customers can choose from a bronze, silver or gold plan, depending on how many hours of monthly support their business requires. The silver and gold plans include periodic executive and management training programs. Companies can also opt for a customized, on-site support plan, or a less involved pay-per-call service.
Pricing starts at $595 per month, or $75.00 for a 20-minute call in the pay-per-call plan. For more information, go to www.getHRanswers.com.
Cash for Solutions
Business.com, a search engine and advertising network, is encouraging U.S companies to share their successes. In early January, the organization will reward a $10,000 cash price to the most creative tale of overcoming a business challenge.
Companies can participate in The What Works for Business Contest by going here and submitting a brief description of a business challenge they recently solved. Entries will be accepted until December 3. A panel of five CEOs and senior partners will narrow the entries down to 50 finalists, and the winner will be decided by popular vote in mid-December. Finalists will be chosen based on the scale of the challenge and the creativity of their solution.
In addition to cash, the winner will also be rewarded with a free publicity campaign. One finalist in each business category will receive $2,000.
Federated search engine Deep Web Technologies has launched a research site to help business professionals run more comprehensive Internet searches. The beta version is available at www.biznar.com.
Biznar aims at helping businesses tap directly into Web resources and subscriber-based content in addition to business blogs and news sites. Searches are performed in real time and a targeted search option will only scan certain news outlets, government sites or organizations. All search results are ranked with a five-star system to determine a site's relevance. Users can also sign up for Biznar alerts.
