Economic Growth Slows

 

Nov. 29, 2006 -- The economy grew by 2.2 percent over the third quarter, a slower pace than the start of the year resulting from increased imports, the Commerce Department reported on Wednesday.

The report was an upward revision to earlier estimates of third-quarter growth in gross domestic product, which is the total output of all goods and services produced in the U.S.

The gains were credited to an increase in personal consumption expenditures, exports, and government spending, the report said.
