More Scrutiny for Small-Business Contracts
Nov. 15, 2006 -- Small businesses will be required to recertify their size at the end of the first five years of a federal contract, according to new regulations announced Tuesday by the Small Business Administration.
Small-business size, which is defined by the agency and differs by sector, will also be scrutinized every time a contract option is exercised or if the business is purchased by or merged with another company, the agency said.
The new regulations follow recent public and private-sector reports of large corporations receiving federal contracts set aside for small businesses.
