Nov. 9, 2006 -- Inventories at the nation's wholesalers rose last month by the sharpest increase in over a year, the Commerce Department reported yesterday.
With sales down by 1.2 percent in September, inventories climbed by 0.8 percent, the report said.
At the current sales rate, the sales-to-inventories ratio rose to 1.18, following record-low 1.15 in July, the report said.
