California Cracks Down on Bogus Businesses

 

Dec. 13, 2006 -- The California Department of Corporations launched a joint program with state and federal officials to protect would-be entrepreneurs against bogus business opportunities and work-at-home scams, the agency said Wednesday.

Project FAL$E HOPE$ will work with the Federal Trade Commission and other agencies to focus on enforcement measures against illegal franchise vendors, while alerting the public about questionable get-rich-quick schemes.
