Manufacturing Sector Expands

 

Jan. 3, 2007 -- The nation's manufacturing sector grew at a faster rate in December, following declines in November, the Institute for Supply Management reported Wednesday.

The group's monthly manufacturing index rose 1.9 points in December to 51.4 percent, driven by new orders for apparel, petroleum, and printing products, among other goods, the report said. Index results above 50 percent indicate expansion.
