Texas, New York Best Power Markets

 

Feb. 13, 2007 -- Texas and New York were recently named the best retail power markets for small and midsize businesses by Liberty Power, an independent energy retailer based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Liberty Power's inaugural Electric Choice Report Card for Small and Mid-Size Businesses, which graded electricity markets in 21 states, awarded As to Texas and New York based on the ability of local business owners to compare electricity prices, along with protections from cost overruns and the general regulatory climate, the report said.

Michigan, Oregon, Arizona, and Virginia all received Ds.

Electricity costs are cited among the top concerns of small-business owners, according to the National Federation of Independent Business.
