U.S. Leads World in Cyber Crime
March 19, 2007 -- The United States is the source of more malicious computer activity than any other country, according to a report released Monday by Symantec, a Cupertino, Calif.-based security-software firm.
About a third of all spam, phishing, and malicious code threats originate in the United States, compared to about 10 percent from China and 7 percent from Germany, the report said.
Spam -- much of it related to stock picks and financial scams -- made up 59 percent of all e-mail traffic monitored by Symantec, up 5 percent from last year, the report said.
