SBA Honors Natural-Disaster Heroes
March 26, 2007 -- The Small Business Administration will be honoring four employers and public officials who provided exceptional services in the aftermath of recent natural disasters at an awards ceremony during Small Business Week next month in Washington, the agency said Monday.
This year's award recipients include Patrick Turley, the president of Turley Publications in Palmer, Mass., who will receive the Phoenix Award for Small Business Disaster Recovery for helping during the 2005 New England area flooding; John Thomas Longo, the Mayor of Waveland, Miss., who is being honored for his Outstanding Contributions to Disaster Recovery by a Public Official; Gregory L. Jenkins, a volunteer from New York who helped neighbors during the summer of 2006 Susquehanna River flooding; and John W. Campbell III, a volunteer from the Mississippi area who reached out to others during Hurricane Katrina even though his own home and business were destroyed.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony in the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center on April 24, the agency said.
