April 4, 2007 -- NASA has selected 18 small business technology transfer research proposals for contract negotiations worth a total of $11 million, the agency announced Wednesday.

The contracts, which are each worth $600,000 over two years, will be awarded to 17 small high-tech firms to develop technology for NASA mission programs, the agency said.

The program was designed to promote technological innovation and increase the use of small businesses in meeting federal research and development needs, the agency said.
