Survey: E-Mail During Meetings a No-No
April 19, 2007 -- A majority of professionals admit to occasionally checking e-mails on their BlackBerries and other mobile devices during business meetings, even though many don't approve of it, a recent survey found.
Out of 150 senior executives polled nationwide, 86 percent said they've checked e-mails during meetings, while 31 percent said they believe mobile e-mail devices should be turned off or barred from meetings altogether, according to Robert Half Management Resources, a financial management services firm based in Menlo Park, Calif.
By contrast, 37 percent of respondents said it's OK to read and respond to urgent e-mails during a meeting, while just 9 percent said it's acceptable any time, the survey found.
