Mothers Vie for Start-Up Capital
Starting this Mother's Day, entrepreneurial moms across the nation will have a chance to compete for a $20,000 grant towards their business venture.
Whirlpool on Thursday launched its third-annual Mother of Invention Grant Program, which will award five mothers with seed money and expert advice in getting a business up and running, the company said. On top of the grand prize, participants will have the opportunity to attend a business boot camp led by experts in the areas of product development, business strategy, and innovation.
Starting May 13, mothers are invited to submit ideas for an invention, business, or service that can be at any stage of completion. Submissions will be judged based on several categories, including those that create a solution to an unmet need, uniqueness in the marketplace, and practical business plan, among others.
Julie Aigner-Clark, creator of Baby Einstein products, will be a guest judge for the competition.
