Columbia Grad Wins $100,000 in Seed Capital
A Columbia Business School graduate this week was awarded $100,000 in seed funding to develop a line of biodegradable plates, cups, and bowls, school officials said Monday.
GreenWare, created by Michael Dwork, was submitted as part of the East Coast Venture Challenge business concept contest sponsored by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Draper Triangle, and DFJ Gotham Ventures.
Dwork, who developed the concept as a part of the school's Entrepreneurial Greenhouse Program, also won Columbia's Outrageous Business Plan competition in March. He will be receiving additional seed funding from the Eugene M. Lang Entrepreneurial Initiative Fund.
