MBAs Getting More Job Offers

 

The number of business-school students receiving offers of employment before they graduate has nearly doubled since 2003, a recent survey found.

In a survey of 5,641 graduating MBA students from 158 business schools around the world, 53 percent landed a job in advance of their degrees this year, compared to 36 percent in 2003, according to the Graduate Management Admission Council.

Many respondents also reported having more than one offer. Students already received an average of 2.5 offers at the time the survey was taken. Both full- and part-time MBA students also said they anticipated an increase in their salary, with full-time students expecting as much as a 54 percent increase, the survey found.

Most respondents said they considered their graduate business education to be valuable in the labor market. Dave Wilson, president and CEO of the Graduate Management Admission Council, said the results clearly show that job applicants with MBAs continue to appeal to employers.
