Women Entrepreneurs Vie for Start-Up Funds
A California winery will sponsor a $50,000 contest for upcoming female entrepreneurs, organizers announced this week.
Make Your Dreams Come True with Mirassou, partly inspired by Mirassou Winery owner David Mirassou's great-great-grandmother Henrietta, seeks to aid women in overcoming the obstacles they face in starting a new business. In addition to the cash prize, one winner will also receive expert advice from a business and marketing plan writer, graphic designer, financial planner, legal expert and a National Association of Women Business Owners mentor.
To enter, applicants must submit an essay stating why they would be a good entrepreneur, as well as a preliminary business plan. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and a U.S. resident and must not be a current business owner. The application deadline is December 15, 2007. For more details, visit www.mirassou.com.
