Survey: Employees Want to Go Green
Most U.S. employees want to work for businesses that are environmentally-friendly, though many admit they are not doing enough to help create a greener workplace, a new survey shows.
In a survey of 1,741 employees nationwide, 73 percent said they feel strongly about working for a company that is environmentally and socially responsible, according to Sun Microsystems, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based network technology company. Yet, only 52 percent said they turned lights off when leaving a room at the office, while 34 percent said they turned off their computers at the end of the day.
By contrast, 92 percent said they conserve energy at home by turning off the lights and 58 percent shut down their computers.
"Businesses don't cut power consumption -- people do," Dave Douglas, vice president of eco responsibility at Sun Microsystems, said in a statement.-next-
