Employers Focusing on Retention
Faced by a tight labor market, many small employers are focusing on employee retention, according to a recent study by the National Federation of Independent Business.
Roughly half of 750 small-business employers polled nationwide said they experienced no employee turnover in the past year, the study found. Over the same period, 59 percent said they did not have a single worker quit his or her job. Quitting is typically the most common reason workers cite for leaving a small business, researchers said.
Another 13 percent of respondents said the had only one willing departure, while 73 percent said they didn't fire any employees and 87 percent said they weren't forced to layoff any employees, the study found.-next-
