Winners Named in Disaster Preparedness Contest
A local staffing agency, a plumbing company, and a talk radio show were the grand prize winners in Office Depot's Hurricane Preparedness Contest for small businesses in the South Florida region, organizers announced this week.
As part of their prize package, all three companies will receive a consultation with a business-continuity expert and $5,000 in supplies.
The contest, launched in May, is part of the office supply chain's campaign to help small businesses better prepare for disasters. To apply, entrants submitted an essay describing their unique needs for disaster preparedness.
"These businesses have all experienced crises that put their companies in jeopardy and reinforced their interest in preparing for any disaster," Jon Toigo, Office Depot disaster-preparedness adviser, said in a statement.
