Salesforce.com Launches On-Demand Platform
Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM) Dreamforce Conference unveiled its Force.com on- demand platform on Monday, dubbing it the first ever Platform-as-a-Service.
The new service will allow developers and independent software vendors to design applications on demand. The User Interface-as-a-Service is backed by a global infrastructure and services for database, logic, workflow, integration, user interface and application exchange.
"The Internet has fueled an incredible proliferation of new devices and new screens for accessing information," Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com, said in a statement. "With Force.com Platform-as-a-Service and Visualforce (technology), we're giving developers the power to harness the Internet to deliver any user experience to any screen or device."
Force.com is available to attendees of the Dreamforce Conference, ending today. Otherwise, it will be available in Salesforce.com's fourth quarter.
