IBM Upgrades Disk Storage for SMBs

 

IBM (NYSE:IBM)  has announced enhancements to its disk and tape storage solutions for small and midsize businesses, and reduced the cost of each.

The upgraded IBM System Storage DS3000 and DS4000 disk series offer increased performance and simplicity, while the improved IBM System Storage TS2240 Tape products promise scalability and better support, the company said.

Available Dec. 7 and Feb. 8, respectively, the DS3000 series will start at $4,500 and the DS4000 $11,500. The expanded disk product series now features low-cost Serial Advanced Technology Attachment support, as well as support for IBM System p servers and BladeCenter Power blades.

The new TS2240 Tape Drive Express Model LTO 4 Half-High, a high performance, small-size tape storage solution, offers enterprise-class encryption but is priced for smaller organizations. Available Nov. 16, it will start at $4,500.
