Sprint, Alcatel-Lucent to Offer Secure Laptop Solution

 

Sprint (NYSE:S) and Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU)  have teamed up to offer a solution that will protect proprietary and confidential information in the case of a lost or stolen laptop or mobile device. SprintSecure Laptop Guardian, a comprehensive laptop security service for businesses, delivers 24-hour security via remote monitoring, location, and locking.

SprintSecure uses a Mobile Broadband connection card that acts as an ignition key to gain access to the laptop, and can also be controlled remotely to revoke authentication privileges. Powered by the Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess 3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian, launched earlier this year, the new service comes with high-speed data access via Sprint Mobile Broadband to allow companies to manage laptops anywhere on the network. 

Additional features include access to laptop status even if it's off or offline, GPS capability within the mobile network for laptop location, and remote data wipe or locking.
