D-Link has introduced a line of environmentally friendly Gigabit switches for small offices and home offices. Green Ethernet technology promises to reduce power consumption, thus cutting energy costs, without sacrificing operational performance.
The new D-Link DGS-2200 series of multi-port desktop switches is fully compliant with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives. In November, D-Link will launch its energy-efficient DGS-1016D 16-port and DGS-1024 24-port high performance rack mountable switches.
D-Link's green computing initiative includes manufacturing eco-friendly products, optimizing devices for ENERGY STAR certification and providing consumer education and recycling programs. Green Ethernet technology conserves energy by recognizing when a port is idle and adjusting accordingly, resulting in reduced spending.
