The first step in understanding the prospective improvements in your supply chain is to understand the chain's components, says Blasgen. Be sure you note and understand every step it takes to produce, store, sell, distribute, transport, and otherwise create and manage your products and services. Even the simple process of creating an outline or map may identify inefficiencies, duplication of effort, or other opportunities for improvement.
