Recommended Resources
Inc.com columnists and editors share some online resources for success as a woman in business.
- Center for Women's Business Research
www.nfwbo.org - When you need data on women in business, this is a good place to look. The site is run by a non-profit originally called the National Foundation for Women Business Owners. You can find links to other female entrepreneurs and facts like, "10.6 million firms are at least 50% owned by a woman or women."
From the Inc.com editors - Count Me In
www.count-me-in.org - Looking for cash to grow your business? Count Me In provides micro loans of up to $10,000 to women entrepreneurs. If you're still in the idea stage, they also offer a free online workshop--via AOL Instant Messenger (gotta love technology!)--on how to start a business.
From Elaine Brodsky and Pamela Mitchell - Country Pet Food
www.countrypet.com - Nothing makes me happier than knowing my dogs and cat are being feed well. I have two great dogs that come to work with me - their names are Spot and Sage. And I have a cat that stays home all day (hey, she is 24 years old, she is retired). This pet food is from New Zealand frozen and shipped in dry ice. It is made from New Zealand lamb and is held to higher standards for pet food production than in the states. My animals love it and that is all that matters to me.
From Deb Weidenhamer - Google Analytics/Spreadsheets and Alerts
www.google.com - These free tools can help you track visitors to your website or weblog, competitive and relevant weblogs, and any news related to your business.

From Elaine Brodsky and Pamela Mitchell - Macy's Department Store
www.macys.com - You can order makeup, hosiery and all the stuff that makes you run to the mall when you don't have time and have it mailed to your home or office.

Since 1975, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) has helped women evolve their businesses by sharing resources and providing a single voice to shape economic and public policy.
- National Women's Business Council
www.nwbc.gov - For the big issues on women in business in the U.S., check out this website, run by an advisory group to the President. The group holds monthly conferences and publishes research on women in business.
From Deb Weidenhamer - Salesforce.com
www.salesforce.com - This customer relationship management service enhances a business's customer reach by helping you keep track of all relevant information, past contacts, as well as personal details. The end result is that you really know and can build on true relationships with customers.

www.bplans.com/ - Need some help with drafting your business plan? Great site with lots of free sample business plans and--even better--easy-to-use calculators (i.e. cash flow, break-even, website conversion rate) that help you get a handle on the most important benchmarks for your financial success.
From Elaine Brodsky and Pamela Mitchell - Online Women's Business Center
www.onlinewbc.gov - This website from the Small Business Administration is the hub for information on women's business resources, and contacts for local Women's Business Centers. The SBA is a great source for funding, but it could still do more to help women. Even so, this website has loads of links to useful resources.

From the Inc.com editors - TypePad
