1. CONTEST DESCRIPTION: The “LINCOLN SELF-MADE IN AMERICA?? CONTEST is a skill contest in which entrants submit one (1) short story about their experience with building their business, their reputation or their career. Entry submissions will be accepted beginning at 12:00:01 AM (ET) on December 19, 2005. Contest ends at 11:59:59 PM (ET) on February 28, 2006.
2. ELIGIBILITY: The “ LINCOLN SELF-MADE IN AMERICA?? CONTEST (“Contest??) is open only to legal residents of the Continental United States, excluding Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alaska, who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of A&E Television Networks (“Sponsor??), Mansueto Ventures, LLC (“Promotional Partner??), NMA Entertainment & Marketing, Inc. (“Administrator??) and each of their parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, prize providers, participating retail locations and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and members of the immediate family and persons living in the same household of each are ineligible. Contest ends at 11:59:59 PM (ET) on February 28, 2006.
3. TO ENTER: There is one (1) way to enter the “LINCOLN SELF-MADE IN AMERICA?? CONTEST. ONLINE: Between 12:00:01 AM (ET) on December 19, 2005 and 11:59:59 PM (ET) on February 28, 2006 (“entry period??), you (“Entrant??) may enter the “LINCOLN SELFMADE IN AMERICA?? CONTEST (“Contest??) by visiting http://www.History.com/Lincoln. Entrants must complete the online entry form, submit a short story about their experience with building their business, their reputation or their career (“Entry??), and click on the “Submit?? button during the entry period. Entry must be 300 words or less. By entering the Contest online, participants acknowledge that they are aware of and agree with the Sponsor’s privacy policy located at: http://www.History.com/privacy/index.html. Sponsor is not responsible for malfunctions of electronic equipment, computer hardware, software, malfunctions of the entrant’s email provider, lost, late, incomplete entries or entries not received in time for the drawings. Entries not containing the required information and entries in excess of the stated limit by the same person, and entries not submitted in the required format will be disqualified. Any attempted form of entry other than described herein is void. Sponsor is not responsible for problems downloading entries from the website or for any other technical problems related to website entries. Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend or terminate the Contest in the event that it becomes infected by a computer virus or is otherwise technically impaired and award prizes from among all eligible entries received prior to cancellation or termination. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an online entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the person in whose name the e-mail account is registered. Entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Normal Internet access and usage charges imposed by your online service will apply. Entry submission will be accepted beginning at 12:00:01 AM (ET) on December 19, 2005. Entries must be received no later than 11:59:59 PM (ET) on February 28, 2006 to be eligible. Entry must be submitted in English, must be original, truthful, unpublished, created solely by the submitting entrant, must not have been submitted in any other competition, and must not infringe upon any rights of any third party, including but not limited to copyright, trademark, and rights of privacy and publicity. Limit one (1) Entry per person during the entry period. Subsequent entries submitted by the same Entrant will be void. Entry must be in keeping with the Sponsor’s image and will not be defamatory, libelous, pornographic or obscene. Each Entrant grants to Sponsor, its successors, licensees and assigns the irrevocable, nonexclusive right to use the entry submission in connection with the Contest and any advertising, publicity, and promotion, in any manner at any time or place, in any present or future media, throughout the world in perpetuity. Sponsor shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to edit, composite, morph, scan, duplicate or alter the entry submission for any purpose which Sponsor deems necessary or desirable, and each Entrant irrevocably waives any and all socalled moral rights they may have in the entry submission by him or her. Proof of delivery or receipt of entry will not be deemed by Sponsor as proof of entry. Any attempted form of entry other than described herein is void.
4. JUDGING/WINNER SELECTION: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be determined on or about March 30, 2006, from among all eligible entries received. Entries will be judged on the following criteria: 1) The degree to which the entry is entertaining, instructional, relevant, and thought provoking for the Inc.com audience (50%), 2) The display of character demonstrated in the entry (50%). Judging will be performed by the editorial staff of Inc.com and/or Inc. Magazine, whose decisions are final in all matters relating to this Contest. The entries will be ranked based on their scores, from highest to lowest, in order to determine the Grand Prize Winner. In the event of a tie, the entries involved in the tie are subject to review by an additional judge who will serve as a tiebreaker and who will evaluate entries according to criteria listed above. Winning Entrant will be notified via mail or email on or about April 15, 2006. As a condition of winning, Grand Prize Winner will be required to sign and return, within 14 days of notification, an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release from Liability (“Release??) and a statement affirming the winner’s grant of all rights in the submission and the right to (where legal) use winner’s name, likenesses and entry in all media for promotional purposes to Sponsor and certifying that the submission is the original submission of the entrant, the entrant has full rights to the submission, that it has not been previously published, released or distributed, does not infringe any third party rights and is suitable for publication. Failure to return any documents within the time specified or failure to respond to notification attempts or return of any prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserve the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of the website or otherwise disregarding these instructions.
5. PRIZE: One (1) Grand Prize: $10,000 grant to further your business objectives. A 4-Day/3- Night trip for two (2) to Chicago, IL, to attend the Inc. 500 conference. Trip includes round trip coach class air transportation for two (2) people from a major U.S. airport near winner’s residence (Sponsor’s choice), hotel accommodations (double occupancy), two (2) admission tickets to the Inc. 500 conference, ground transportation to/from airport/hotel, a $500 gift card and a 2-year subscription to Inc. and Fast Company magazines (Estimated Retail Value (“ERV??): $15,538). To be eligible to receive the Grand Prize, winner must submit an update on the progress of how the grant money has been used to further their business objectives six (6) months after receipt of the grant money. Grand Prize package does not include meals, taxes, insurance, telephone charges, personal expenses, gratuities, incidental charges, or any other items not specifically described in these Official Rules, and all expenses for any of the foregoing are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner. The actual retail value (“ARV??) of the travel prize may vary depending upon the point of departure and fare fluctuation. Trip must be taken on November 2, 2006 with a return trip on November 5, 2006 or prize will be forfeited in its entirety. Some additional restrictions and blackout dates may apply. Final travel arrangements and choice of hotels to be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Grand Prize Winner and guest must travel together on the itinerary and must possess valid ID in order to travel. Grand Prize Winner must confirm available travel dates and flight times selected by the Sponsor at least three (3) weeks prior to travel dates. No extension or change of trip dates permitted. Trip is subject to air/ground travel availability, hotel availability, and all other prize and travel restrictions, as applicable. If a travel companion is a resident of a jurisdiction that deems him/her to be a minor, he/she must be accompanied by his/her parent/legal guardian, and such person must pay his/her own expenses, unless deemed to be the winner or any other traveling companion. Grand Prize Winner's travel companion (or parent/legal guardian if a traveling companion is a minor) must sign and return a Release of Liability/Publicity Release (where legal) prior to the issuance of travel documents. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. No transfer, substitution or cash equivalent for any prizes will be permitted, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion due to prize unavailability for any reason, and only then for a prize of greater or equal value determined by Sponsor shall be allowed. In the event the closest airport to the winner’s home is the destination city, prize will not include air transportation and no other substitution or compensation will be provided. If, for any reason, a portion of the Grand Prize cannot take place as planned, for any reason beyond the control of the Sponsor, then the remaining components of the Grand Prize shall constitute full satisfaction of Sponsor’s prize obligation to the Grand Prize winner, and no additional compensation will be awarded.
5. GENERAL: Contest is governed by the laws of the State of New York, with venue and jurisdiction in New York, NY and all claims must be resolved in the courts of New York, NY. By entering, Entrant/winner agrees: (1) to release Sponsor and Promotional Partner from all liability, loss or damage arising out of their participation in the Contest and with respect to their acceptance and use/misuse of the prizes; (2) to be bound by the official rules; (3) that the decisions of the judges are final and binding on all matters relating to the Contest; and (4) where legal, to the use of their names, likenesses and entry submissions for advertising and promotional purposes in all media worldwide (including online) without additional compensation, except in Tennessee and where otherwise prohibited by law. Winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes. Grand Prize Winner will be issued an IRS 1099 Income Tax Form in the amount of the ARV of any prize accepted over $600. An entry, except where prohibited by law, constitutes a grant of permission to the Sponsor or its agents to include winners’ names on the http://www.History.com and/or http://www.Inc.com site and in connection with a Winners’ List without further notice or without additional compensation.

CONTEST winner, available after June 16, 2006, visit http://www.Inc.com or send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to be postmarked no later than July 3, 2006 and received no later than July 10, 2006, to: “LINCOLN SELF-MADE IN AMERICA??
