Baldev Duggal, founder and CEO of Duggal Visual Solutions in New York City, has no trouble explaining what his company does. “Fusing the technology of the future with the craftsmanship of the past to deliver innovative visual solutions—period, that’s what we do 24/7/365,” he says. The company doesn’t “sell” in the traditional sense; it just shows the work it’s already done to prospective customers and relies on its reputation, he says. The reason he chose Mercedes-Benz Sprinter to be the mobile embodiment of this philosophy is equally straightforward. “Mercedes-Benz, like our company, combines cutting-edge technology with an old-world commitment to craftsmanship and quality,” he says. “How could there be any other choice for Duggal Visual Solutions?”
“The Sprinter is thoughtfully designed and produced to be environmentally friendly through and through.”
Besides being a leader in the imaging market in the greater New York metropolitan area, Duggal Visual Solutions was an early adopter of environmentally friendly products and practices in its industry. Among his other projects, Duggal has invested several million dollars in the Duggal Greenhouse in the old Brooklyn Navy Yards, utilizing environmental design elements to transform a dilapidated ship repair facility into an aesthetically pleasing carbon-neutral waterfront greenhouse. “Environmental issues are important to me,” he says. “The fuel economy of the BlueTEC diesel engine is one reason we bought our first Sprinter and why we are buying another one now.”
Combining messaging and practicality
Duggal has been featuring its Eco-Imaging line of products and services for several years. “We decided to utilize the Sprinter as a canvas for displaying this message because of its fuel efficiency and other environmentally friendly aspects,” he says. “The graphics we designed and printed for the Sprinter showcase this work.” Practical considerations were equally important. The company uses its Sprinter for product deliveries and pick-up throughout the city and for travelling to do installations. “Driver and passenger safety, durability, reliability, being able to hold up to New York City potholes and maneuver through its crowded streets—all these things are important to us,” he says. So important, in fact, that Duggal Visual Solutions is now adding a 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Model 2500 High Roof Cargo Van with 144-inch wheelbase to its fleet.
Sprinter has helped his business grow by improving its ability to make timely deliveries while spreading awareness of the company’s environmentally friendly products and mission, Duggal says. “The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter embodies the kind of innovation, forward thinking, and leadership that we pursue in our own business,” he adds. “We always look for the new and the innovative, and that’s just what we get with the Sprinter.”
