Whether you chose to click the “Upgrade” button or not, the new layout is opt-in and permanent as of March 10.
This is where it gets good. Unlike before, where once you selected a category it could never be changed, now you have options. You can select a category and a subcategory, which will change the kind of information that is included on your page description.
How: Click "Edit Page," then "Basic Information" to select your category and subcategory.
Getting e-mails notifying you when fans comment on your page is encouraging, but when you’ve got thousands, or even millions, of fans it can get overwhelming. Stop the clutter in your inbox by changing the default setting to “off.”
How: Click "Edit Page," then "Your Settings." Follow that link, then click "Change email settings for individual Pages."
This is up to you. The upgrade seems to have defaulted the wall preference back to “Everyone.” If you don’t want just anyone posting on your front page, welcoming spam and posts with typos, then now’s the time to get that under control.
How: Click the "Manage Permissions" tab, then select the option for "Posts by Page Only."
Now you can post comments as you or as your brand. Thanks to the upgrade you can have a more intimate relationship with your audience by allowing them to see posts directly from you.
How: Click "Edit Page," then "Your Settings." Then you can click "Always comment and post on your page as (PAGE NAME) even when using Facebook as (YOUR NAME).
Okay, this feature came out right before the upgrade, but it’s still cool. Now you can filter how much profanity is allowed on your page. The options, “None,” “Medium” and “Strong,” are built from a list of words collected by Facebook. You can also create your own list of words you don’t want mentioned on your page. The sky is the limit.
How: Click "Edit Page," then under the “Manage Permissions” tab make your changes.
We’re sure you’ve noticed the page tabs have moved from the top to the left side of the page. Unfortunately, there’s no way to change the icon image. The bright side is you now have more room to give detailed names to your page apps.
How: Click "Edit Page," then "Apps," then "Go to App."
Your “Featured Pages” are now “Featured Likes.” This little gallery showcases other pages that your page “Likes.” This minimizes the clutter on your news feed every time you choose to “Like” a page.
This could be a really good thing—depending on how you look at it. Adding the “Featured Page Owners” option lets you create a public list of admins. This could be a good way for them to increase their Facebook connections.
