Warm it Up

“Most of our clients, being in tech, have this problem with attracting talent,” says Brucha. “They’re all chasing the same programmers, the same brain trust, all these really bright kids.”

The way to their heart, he’s found, is by warming up the office, or as he puts it, “doing away with the cold, sterile look that was popular eight or 10 years ago.”

Exposed wood ceilings and furniture with an antique feel are good places to start. “You don’t want a desk that looks like a cold, plastic laminate desk that most of the world sites behind," he says. "You want it to look less commercial, less institutional, and a little more fun.”
