"Reckless" Ad Man Sweeps Awards
The advertising agency behind one of Inc. magazine's Entrepreneurs We Love, Crispin, Porter + Bogusky, hit a first yesterday, sweeping three top advertising awards during a print advertising conference in New York City. CPB is the first company to win in all three categories of the Magazine Publishers of America Kelly Awards.
Crispin's campaign for the Mini Cooper garnered a Silver Kelly award. Crispin won Gold and Grand Kellies for its work with Molson, forwhich it developed a campaign to appeal to the beer company's target audience of 21- to 25-year-old males.
Chuck Porter, one of the firm's managing partners, told Inc. earlier this year that he is very hands-off in his management style -- an approach that some have even dubbed "reckless."
But it seems to have paid off. The agency has already grown tenfold since Porter arrived in 1987 and its revenue hovers somewhere around $500 million. Not bad for "reckless."
