Want to give your retail sales a boost this year? Offer your customers gift cards. Accenture recently surveyed 500 U.S. consumers and discovered that more than 68% of them said they bought gift cards from retailers because they were unsure of what family and friends wanted. On the flip side, 42% percent said they preferred receiving gift cards over a gift, and of those using the cards, 45% acknowledged spending more than the cards value when they were redeemed. So besides promoting your sale items this holiday season, be sure to promote a gift card program for those shoppers short on gift ideas.
