These horror tales provide concrete examples of how not to conduct an annual review. While management books may suggest guidelines to entrepreneurs, reading actual accounts can be more useful. These performance reviews are an owner's opportunity to finesse their operation, by letting their employees know what works and what doesn't, and by learning from them how they all can be better supervised.
