Hiring "Tips"

There's an entertaining thread on hiring practices posted on the Joel on Software blog today. The original post suggests that a "totally valid" way to assess resumes it to lay a bunch of them side by side on a table and grade them based on their aesthetic appeal, elimanating the ones that strike you as unappealing visually, regardless of educational or job experience details.

Subsequent posters offer other offbeat methods of grading resumes, and wonder whether or not, in today's job market, anyone has the luxury of having a stack of applicants to go through in the first place.

Here's the link.
