Is an IT Exodus Coming?

A recent study by Robert Half Technology shows that many CIOs are prioritizing employee retention quite highly for the coming year. An article in ComputerWorld explains why: "IT professionals asked to do more work for less pay and fewer benefits might be able to forgive their employers' financial choices, but industry watchers say high-tech workers won't soon forget being treated poorly during the most recent economic recession and will look to find other employment opportunities as soon as the recovery gets under way."

Not only do companies run the risk of losing their top IT talent, but also of what disgruntled workers will do on their way out. ABC News reported on this risk, stating that "Theft of intellectual property, fraud and damage of corporate networks cost corporations over a $1 trillion globally in 2008."
