HP And Palm: Dell's Big Mistake
PC Makers need to be recrafting themselves intp smartphone makers. The smartphone, for all intensive purposes, is the PC now.
HP's announced purchase of Palm ($1.2 billion) is a stroke of genius for two reasons:
1. HP gets a ramped up smartphone division.
2. Dell doesn't.
This is a very, very bad week for Dell. Palm would have been a game changer for them and perhaps for the small to midsize business. Imagine Palm devices fully integrated with Dell servers. Imagine Dell's customization model applied to Palm devices.
What might have been.
Sigh... well, I do look forward to the Tim Burton artwork electronically etched in my next Palm Pre.
