Twitter has announced it will be rolling out a new and improved look in the coming weeks. If I had to sum it up in just a tweet, I would say "double panes". And therein lies the problem with Twitter; it's hard to express much in 140 characters or less.
The brains behind the blogging-lite social network believe they've come up with a way to have it all; superficial banter and depth too. They may deliver with its new heavily revamped user interface.
The new Twitter will feature rollover capability over the user's feed. Just click on a tweet on the left side of the screen and a second pane blows out on the right side displaying more information. New information will include profile information on the author of said Tweet, attached pictures and videos (thanks to partnerships with Youtube, FlickR and TwitPic to name a few) and the author's recent tweets. (Some would suggest it looks suspiciously similar to the Tweet app for the iPad).
Of course, the new interface will also better accomodate advertisements.
