Windows Live Bloggers To Go To Wordpress
Microsoft today announced it will be phasing out its blogging platform Windows Live Spaces, which currently serves about 30 million users. Starting today, Microsoft's blogging platform of choice is now Wordpress.
The announcement was made today at TechCrunch Disrupt jointly by Microsoft and Automattic, the company that handles the backend of Wordpress.com.
Those that have been publishing with Windows Live Spaces have six months to migrate their blogs over to Wordpress. For new users just logging onto Windows Live for the first time, the redirect page to Wordpress.com is already up.
Microsoft is promising a smooth transition and easy to use migration tools for bloggers making the move. However, when Microsoft promises a seamless anything as we all know that is the geek equivalent to "the check's in the mail".
